I recently got an XTS atomic overdrive based on hearing RACKDOCTOR's clip. Here is a clip of it running into a 12K clone. The first few seconds are just straight in. Then the atomic is kicked in.

Me thinks that sounds real good.

When I first heard it I thought "jfet."
I've spent a lot of time tweaking jfet circuits, so I'm familiar with the sounds. Cascaded mu-amp circuit?
Real nice job.

jreinhard What were your settings like on the amp and the Atomic? That sounds pretty wicked. Thinking on picking one up for my plexi.

I use the atomic with the mid select set to mid, V=10oclock,B=5oclock,M=12oclock,T=12oclock,G=2oclock.
I set my amp with a splitter to both input channels. The settings are P=5,B=10,M=10,T=0,V1=10,V2=5.
I use a gmajor2 in an effects loop on my 12K and use it to control the overall volume so it is important to note that there is no power tube distortion here. I can and have used an attenuator to get the power tube distortion thing happening and use much less gain on the atomic but that does not lend itself to a versatile setup for me. I prefer to have a wider range of sounds on tap including some cleaner stuff and still have something close to the EVH thing when I want it.

Just scored an XTS Atomic Overdrive from ebay. This is the first pedal I have ever purchased that sounds just like the clip posted. Thanks JReinhard for sharing the clip with your settings. Very Van Halenish sounding. :vh:

Here another demo of the XTS Atomic Overdrive. I am going for a 1976 Van Halen type tone. I used a Blankenship Variplex set clean into a Kerry Wright 4x12 with 70's Blackbacks, a Vintage Script MXR Phase 90 and an Echo Machine. The guitar is a James Tyler SE with a Seymour Duncan EVH Humbucker.

Hot vagina!!

That is probably the best " vh in a pedal" i have ever heard. Needs maybe a smidge more prescence bite for me but I bet that could be adjusted in easy.
I think most pedals aren't worth a pinch of shit but this one has some serious mojo realness to it.

Talking about VH in a pedal....

This is an old clipe of mine, but I think it sounds nice for a pedal

I've played this pedal and all in all has very impressive tones and actually has some give and feel to it like my metro 68 believe it or not. Probably one of the most convincing pedals that I have heard the other one is the Wampler Pinnacle which I have not played.

The Atomic seems to have a more plexi type grind to it to my ears but YMMV.

Sounds pretty high gain with a high smash factor, it you will. Tone is nice though. Sounds like fun to play. 8)
Cheers to the ears.
