Asuza 'FRANKY' question ?

Post by Tone Slinger » Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:01 am

Does anyone know if the famous routing (hack job, but cool) was like that when the guitar was B&W and had the black pick guard ? Did Ed take more pick up rout wood out after that (B&W era) ?

No knows for sure but I would guess that it was pretty much "routed out" when it was white with black stripes.

I'm sure it was...the purpose of the "hack-job" was to seat the humbucking pickup. Even though the guitar had his hand cut black pickguard on it, he still had to rout for the humbucker.

:dlr: Azusa is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 46,361 at the 2010 census, up from 44,712 at the 2000 census. Though sometimes assumed to be a compaction of the phrase "everything from A to Z in the USA" from an old Jack Benny joke, the place name "Azusa" traces back to at least the 18th century. Azusa originally referred to the San Gabriel Valley and river, and likely derives from the Tongva place name Asuksagna

Azusa, you sure not maybe ISUZU ?

Thanks guy's, I was wondering about this, since you dont really want to get TOO close to the 6 screw holes (or the two post for floyds). Too close leaves too little wood where it is most needed (under & around the bridge) for tone and resonance.

Ed got fairly close. I'm homing in on a KNE Asuza body order. Thanks all

We could speculate that the middle pick-up was untouched until Ed tried to jam a tele bridge pick-up in the middle position.
That is not something we'll probably ever know ... The bridge was routed for the humbucker and it was already screwed directly to the body. The pickguard only held the volume pot.
