Anyone been over there and used any of their kits? They offer Les Paul copies and also are offering a flying V soon.
I am interested in a V. These guitars are "set neck" kits and require clamping and gluing the neck to the body which is cool, and they also offer stainless steel frets as an option. Tired of trems for awhile and would love to get a great playing set neck tunomatic short scale guitar to shred on.

Re: Precision Guitar Kits
I have a Les Paul Jr. kit that I'm currently trying to sell here. Just not vintage spec enough for me.
The Precision kit is really high quality. Nice tight neck joint and really nice fret work. By comparison, I have a Bulldog Les Paul 59 kit that leaves a lot to be desired. The neck joint took a lot of work to get it to fit tightly. The frets were junk and had to be replaced. The first neck's truss rod didn't work so it had to be replaced. The second neck also required some work to get it to fit and ended up messing up the original bridge post positions so they had to be doweled and redrilled. What a mess!

Re: Precision Guitar Kits
Thanks for posting this dirtycooter, I never even considered that a 'set neck' kit was available. I dig my 'TradeTang' Les Paul, but love doing guitar work. I cant build a neck and body, etc from scratch (just dont have the tools/equipment) but I can definatly glue and clamp
.
I also get the urge to just jam out on the 24 3/4 scale neck and tunomatic set up. My Les Paul is fine for this, but I like the way a Flying V hangs in front of you when you got it strapped on. Michael Schenker on last weeks 'That Metal Show' got me wanting a V again.

Re: Precision Guitar Kits
I am nervous about it though. Once you glue it it all has to line up good and the joint really snug, more so than a strat. So its make it or break it. But, I love Gibson V's but want a figured maple top-$$$$$$$. It may be acheivable cheaper this route. But having never heard of this company gives me the guinea pig feeling as there is not much community feedback online bout them yet. They'll do stainless frets but its another $90. I think its steep for the ss really. But I am itchin for another build.
If warmoth would simply do a dang neck without a scarf joint headstock I would be more inclined to go with them. Yeah it bolts on, but you can still throw glue in the pocket on top of the screws. And it would be maple necked like zack wyldes LP, which is rare. So many guitars so little time!

Check out the My Les Paul Forum Custom Shop and Luthier sections. There is a lot of info about Precision kits
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You may also want to check out BYO Guitars Custom Shop (not the regular kits which is made overseas). Their kits have been getting some good feedback on the My Les Paul forum.
