Trouble shooting

A few days ago my amp was working fine then the next day I
turned it on - nothing. If I turn the volume controls all the way
up there is a little hiss and if I plug in a guitar I get a faint sound.

Suspecting a short I looked around for a stray resistor lead or
a chunk of solder - nothing. I then swapped the preamp tubes
around - no difference. I tested the voltages on the preamp
tubes as follows:

pin........1.........2........3.......4.......5.......6.......7.......8.......9
V1.....184......-----.....2.3....3.1ac..3.1ac.203...----.....3.3....3.1ac
V2.....230......----.......0......3.1ac..3.1ac.343...226....0......3.1ac
V3....212.......5.4......40.....3.1ac..3.1ac.194...5.7....40....3.1ac

There are a few disturbing readings:
V2 pin 3 should be 1.1 rather than 0
V2 pin 8 should be 170 rather than 0
V3 pin 2 should be 28 rather than 5.4
V3 pin 7 should be 28 rather than 5.7

Clearly something is wrong but I'm not sure what I should try
next. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in
advance.

Soun ds like you need to check the 100K resistor on V2's socket -- check the resistor itself for proper value, and the solder joints for good contact.

I tested the resistor on v2 - dead on 100k ohms.
The solder joints appear to be solid - no gaps, no
pvc insulation leaks, no evidence of a short, etc.
Other ideas?
