Just bought a 50w Bass head off reverb, sounds killer. I got it running into a 70' basket weave that has some Scumback Blackbacks M75s (65 watt).
Anyway, it needs some new glass. Any recommendations?

Re: Proud owner of a Custom Metro 50 Watt (What Tubes?)
i like similar tones....i'd recommend 3 tubes (sylvania, rft and siemens- that is also order of expense)
the sylvanias are dirtiest but still musical - think VH, the rft have a unique upper mid shout think scorps blackout, and the siemens have great musical compression think schenker.....rca's are similar to sylvanias but cleaner and a bit blander. mullards are decent but there are several types and more expensive because of name brand,...as to power tubes. if you're using el34's i'd go wtih EH. but you need to get them from a company that preburns them in to weed out the duds -once you get a a good set, they sound like mullards witha a bit more breakup, and last quite a while
this guy used to be known as lord valve, and is where i'd get mine. not sure if its still under same mangagement but i'd call and ask if they wee d them out still:

1. Dokken - Breaking the Chains - rft $30-50
2. Judas Priest - British Steel sylvania jan(robust military version) $15-20
3. Queen - A Day at the Races siemens halske $40-60
4. Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force (84') rft
5. Toto -Hydra any rca or mullard
forget any new production 12ax7 . they all are substandard
