The Multiple Metropoulos Club

Well now.

Last summer I got a Metropoulos GPM45 from George, built with the mustard caps I sent him. Honestly, it was the best sounding amp I'd ever heard in my life. Just astonishing.

But that created a problem for me: I needed more. More Metropoulos. Something with EL34s in the power section.

Last month I got it: a Metropoulos 10,000 Super Bass (with the bright cap mod), once again built with mustards I sent George. It's poo-your-pants good. It's turn-it-up-until-the-neighbors-yell-but-you-don't-care-and-never-plan-on-turning-it-down-ever good.

So now I'm part of the Multiple Metropoulos Club.

And I swear to you, if my finances ever permit it I'll be getting a Metropoulos 12,000 Super Lead (or perhaps the Metro-Friedman Frankenstein).

Who else here is part of the Multiple Metropoulos club?

And by the way, anyone can join: All you have to do is be as bonkers as I am about what George does.

;)

Umm, I'd have to count...hang on....ok...

Two 50w kits in 2007/2008.

One 100w kit in 2008.

Bought a JMP 50 Metro here...bought a JTM 50 Metro here as well.

Let's see....bought a 100w that had all the Steve Henning mods done to it...depth, resonance, 4th preamp tube, etc....and I just picked up a 100w 12000 series spec from an RT member that's going to be modded by Dave F.

Shit...that makes 7, huh? :palm:

Funny, I was just talking with a friend of mine last night, who has been playing Marshalls for about 40 years now and we are both in agreement George's Replica's and kits are as close as you are going to get that old Marshall sound.

We have tried so many botique type amps over the years. I wish I saved my money for George's amps.

When I hit the lottery I will have at least one of each !!!!!!!!!!!

Just an update.

I do have three now.

Super Lead 12093 from George's videos has been in my possession for a few months, alongside (technically, on top of) the 10,000 Super Bass and next to the GPM 45. What I find incredibly frustrating is how different these amps are. One simply cannot take the place of another. I fully understand why people go nuts and Plexify their homes.

Already Jonesing for a 2203 -- Heaven help me if I ever get the 50 watt itch.

We have done our best to bring the kits back:
http://valvestorm.com/Build%20CheckLists
Most of the original kit parts are still available.

More Metroamp parts here:
http://valvestorm.com/Products/MetroAmp

Just need to order the trannies direct from Heyboer:
http://metroamp.com/store/index.php?mai ... x&cPath=28

The head cases from Mojo work well (just tell em you want the "flat bottom lip")

Can you please elaborate on this? I am about to order one from them.

And about to put in a sizeable order with you for 50w parts too!!
