45/100 or 10,000 Series and 4 x 12" Celestion Blues

I was wondering, would the Metro 45/100 and 10,000 series amp be OK with a 4 x 12" Celestion Blues cabinet? Would those amps blow these speakers? The Celestion Blues are formally rated at 15W but I know that in the '60s Vox used to put 2 of these into their AC50 cabinets and 4 into their AC100 cabinets...
Alternatively, if that is a problem, would 2 x Celestion Blues plus 2 x Celestion Golds solve the power problem?

Yes you'll blow the speakers. Even with a 100w cab, eventually you'll blow the speakers if you're playing at loud volumes. The amps 100 watt rating is the rating at a medium volume. When you start really cranking it the wattage can jump. Sometimes even twice the amount. So a lot of people actually prefer to have 2x the amp wattage. If you're going to invest in an amp like a 45/100 or a 10,000 series, you should pick up a cabinet with at least 2 times the power handling of your head, if you want to have no worry about speakers blowing, but speaker distortion is part of the sound for some people, which is why they go with 100w cabinets. Either you should upgrade your cabinet, or go with a lower wattage amp, GPM45, or a 50 watter. Yes, the 2 golds mixed with the 2 blues would be the best bet if you can't buy new speakers. That's 130 watts, which is enough.

Nope. Cabinet wattage = lowest wattage speaker times the number of speakers (15w x 4 = 60w). You can put one 15w blue in a 4x12 with three 200w speakers and the cab is still going to be 60w total.

Hi,
choose 4 golds, open the back of your 4x12 (like the Marshall upper Hendrix- cab) and the world will be ok

Yes,
I've tried this with my 4 original Silverbells in a Marshall 4x12 slant cab.
My first impression: relatively liveless & a bit dull sounding.
But then I've tried this "open back"- thing, and this sounded so fantastic to me, that I first could'nt believe it.
Very, very good for clean and overdrive sounds!
@mrpicard: If you have the money for the four Celestion Golds: try it- you won't regret it!
