Are you trying to obtain preamp distorion or power tube distortion. You can make your preamp sound like 2203 or like a hot rodded plexi with a PPIMV, very gainy. You could have channel one have a high gain in one socket and low gain on the other, but you would not be using channel two anymore.

No a 2203 have's the same filtering as a 1959 "Plexi" except on a 67/68 and JTM they are lower in filtering, espacaily the preamp, PI and screens.
