Re: Looking into international freight options
Is it a problem to ship amp heads as well or are we talking about cabs now? I get the impression people are referring mostly to 4x12s here.

Re: Looking into international freight options
I'm meeting with TNT Express tomorrow to discuss international shipping/costs/delivery timeframes, etc. Let you know how it goes.

Re: Looking into international freight options
Hey Jim, please let me know how it goes. They weren't able to help me on cabinets when I got quotes several months ago. I just got a new account rep at FEDEX and she felt she could provide some reasonable options, but I'm not holding my breathe.....

Re: Looking into international freight options
George, they gave me a quote of $486 to ship a 4x12 (loaded) to England with 105 lb weight (packed) and $1400 insured value. The box size was 36x18x36 if that helps.
Fedex...please. If your new rep comes up with anything under $800 I'll be surprised.

Re: Looking into international freight options
I don't understand that...I had a tall bottom 4x12 with three large headboxes packed inside shipped from Jeff Swanson last year for around $300, and that was to Norway. A regular 4x12 should, if anything, cost *less* to ship due to smaller size. Weight should be about the same.
IIRC, that was by TNT.

Shakti, Jeff is 3000 miles closer to you than I am in California on the West Coast, since he's in Massachusetts (on the East Coast). That may be the reason.shakti wrote:I don't understand that...I had a tall bottom 4x12 with three large headboxes packed inside shipped from Jeff Swanson last year for around $300, and that was to Norway. Re: Looking into international freight options
The least expensive way to do this is to send the item air freight, from a major hub in the origin country, to a major hub in the destination country, preferably using a direct flight between the two (e.g. DTW -> CDG). There are independent brokers who facilitate this service out of every hub. You just drop off your packed items with their commercial invoices, and the broker does the rest. On the other end, the buyer picks up the item from the freight office at the destination airport, pays whatever customs fees are due, and that's all.
If the item must through connecting flights, the cost goes up.
Any door-to-door delivery, on one end or the other, drives the cost up as well.
