Higher than normal voltage on first 2 preamp tubes.

Hey Folks, I have a question and wonder if anyone else has had this before.

Just got my 2204 50 watt finished, I used the 50 watt instructions from here, but used SDM's layout from his site.

My plate voltage is 500 volts without any tubes, then I installed all tubes and get a 470 volt reading at the plate in V-4 and V-5.
I used the chart that is in the 50 watt instructions here and all my voltages are pretty close, but My voltage on the first two preamp tubes are higher than they should be, as follows..

V-1
Pin 1 = 265
Pin 6 = 224

V-2
Pin 1 = 174
Pin 6 = 305

V-3 is pretty close unlike 1 and 2, So is my voltage too High in the first place? or have you delt with this before and have some input? thank ou for your time.

Edit, would this higher voltage be due to the fact that V-1 is cascaded?

Re: 480 volts at pin one on all preamp tubes.

Did the amp make any weird noises or quit making sound when you were playing?

Were the power tubes installed when you got that voltage reading? 480V on the preamp plates is typical when the power tubes aren't installed or working.

The power tubes may have lost a connection somewhere and aren't pulling current. Check voltages on power tube pins 3, 4 and 6 and see if any are 0 V or way low.

It's 500 volts without the power tubes in. I'll ckeck the voltages on them and see. also, the tubes are new.

Thank you too!!
