Capacitor orientation.

I am new to the forum and I am trying to figure out capacitor orientation on .1 UF 400V and .68uf100V units. I am self-schooling myself and I would appreciate any help with this matter.
Thanks-Mike

I would like to re-clarify the question. Is there a polarity to be observed on these smaller caps. Typical of a tone stack on a pre-amp section. I looked at the 100watt instuctions and it only talks of electolytic style caps with a dimple on 1 end and it speaks of zener diode position. Does it matter which direction they are mounted?
Thanks

No...the only cap in the signal path that would be polarized is the electrolytic cathode bypass cap on the normal channel. All the rest of the signal caps are non-polarized and can go in either or.

Would have been helpful to help you, to know what brand of caps you're speaking about, cos there are those and those.

SoZos have a black ring, what should be facing to the lower impedance, to reduce the possibility of picking up noise - but the amp will work also with not properly orientated caps, maybe a tad noisier.

Polarized electrolytics MUST be installed in such a way that the polarity (+/-) is repected. For other caps, it doesn't matter but I can't speak for Sozo caps as I've never used them.

He knows this...what he was asking was if Sozos are polarized, which to the best of my knowledge they are not.

That's correct, they're not polarized!
But they have an inner and an outer foil - and when the outer foil (stripe) is connected to the lower impedance, then the cap itself is better shielded agains picking up noise from the orbit.
