new old guy, hello all

Well, not too too old. 52 but still giggin. By day I test, refurbish, fix Talon 4 robots. Bomb squads, swat teams and the military use them to find and deploy bombs so that a human doesn't have to go in. I've had some electronics and went on to build my own fuzz,OD eq's and such for gigging. I just built some Seventh circle preamps (c84 and N72) and have biased one of my amps in the past. I just picked up a bogner alchemist and although I like many things about it, I really think certain upgrades will bring it along quite further. Thats mainly why I'm here. You folks obviously are into some amazing things with building, modifying and customizing your own amps and I'm extremely intrigued and have a great deal of respect for your experience and venturism. I hope some of this will rub off on me and I bet if enough time is spent here, I'll just have to initiate an amp project some fine day. My poor wife. So, I'm looking forward to learning more about guitar tube amps in the quest of doing my own upgrades, mods. Not many things get me off like great guitar tone. I need to find out a few more things before I enter that camp. I have a pretty decent understanding of V,I,R and impedance and I've learned good saftey rules for dealing with high voltages and currents thanks to my high voltage power supply job. Thank you for having me here and I will certainly appreciate any advice and guidance that comes my way in this journey.

Hey Phil,
I'm 52 as well which probably sounds ancient to a lot of the young members.

I got back into tube amps about 10 years ago after taking a hiatus from guitars and amps.
I mean I still played once in a while but due to career and family life I had to put that stuff on the back burner.

I've messed around with electronics most my life but never learned a lot about tube theory.
A few years back I built my first tube amp and love it.

One of these days I want to build a Metro amp so I am here to learn about them.

Thank you all for the warm and positive welcome. Its been a real shitty morning so far and well, I sure appreciate the positive offset!!! My Alchemist as it turned out has a bad boo-boo on the speaker. It's got to be returned for a new one. I hope there are no complications with the return. Keep the fingers crossed.
