Just looking at my left over wire from George's kits. Is the black and red heater wire the same gauge as the rest of the colored stuff?

I see a lotta folks say you should use 18 for the heaters, but 22 seems to work just fine. I am waiting for a run of wire in all colors... I will keep you guys posted.

I have sourced some larger 3A diodes (Regular and FREDs) for some of you guys. I (and Dave F.) recommend the regular diodes for the bridge and the smaller FRED for the bias. For the larger diodes wrap the parallel diodes around the outside of the posts(I messed up on one), and the X diodes over the top.

Axeman hooked me up with some JJ 6CA7s, and they are working fine! Still need to do an ABC against the EH 6CA7s and my Sylvania 6CA7s....

Those are the diodes you sent me correct? Should have my brackets this week. I hope I get this PT tranny wired correctly.

Hold off a bit wiring that PT. I just wrote chris regarding the wiring of his T2562 PT. I might have mine hooked up wrong.

Ok. That PT is a little confusing.

Yeah, a power tube comparison would be great. You could reamp a clip using each set.

The Larry grounding makes for a clean looking set up. I sent some shots to Robert so he could have a look at the PT wiring. I'm trying to form the caps right now but the voltage seems to be too low.

Everything looks fine to me... might be your voltages are out of sync because you have the PT center tap lifted to do the cap forming... it will work itself out!

That looks pretty good Srat78! That grounding really cleans things up as you say, especially around the pots. I'm trying to follow your wiring but its pretty hard with a wide angle shot. Where did you get that cap I see on Vol1? I also see you must have redrilled for the 2 bolts on CM's PT.

As far as forming the caps, what do y'all reccomend ? I do not have a variac, so I cannot gradually raise the voltage every few hours or so. Will just firing it up on the wall voltage hurt anything ?

Read through this thread if you have not already:

You've had the kit for over a year so those caps will definitely need proper forming. It's easy! You should also pick up a variac to have on hand for other things down the road. :D

So did you do it the way Larry outlined or did you just pull out the tubes and use the variac?
