I did a search on that word in Metroamp. There are 38 pages of different threads with that word.vanhalen5150 wrote:Dudes of Homeland Security?

Did you have to redrill for the OT's? Im putting in the 2" for this one I think. The rubber grommets sit half under brackets. Did the 1.5' fit correctly?Strat78 wrote:Finished the build last night and she sure is purdy.I'll call it the "knee" amp sense it brought some distraction from the 24/7 f'n pain from the surgery. Built most of it in bed from 2am to 5am each morning. I'll form the caps this afternoon and do a readings chart tomorrow. I really want to hear these new tranny's!

I ended up drilling four new holes for the 1.5" OT just to get it in the right spot and not cover the grommets. The 2" looks like a bigger problem especially with those new brackets, maybee take a some metal off the brackets to free up the grommets.vanhalen5150 wrote:Did you have to redrill for the OT's? Funny you guys doing this!
My early '68 Superlead was punched for a 2" trannie (presumably Drake -132) originally but was hand drilled at the factory for the 1 1/2" Dagnall C1998 (I discovered when I removed it), odd how things go round in circles

I'll take some pics tonight before I drill anything later in the week. The grommet holes are about 50% covered by the brackets. Wouldnt be bad but the bracket goes all the way across the bottom, and just doesnt sit well on top of the rubber. I may move the OT a little further away from the PT anyways. The brackets make everything seem really close together.

THE STUFF RIGHT HERE!! daggggone dude. SICK. Everything about it is to droooool over.Strat78 wrote:So here is a short clip. However, somehow something better came through on the recording, it's not great, but the gain and hair is sort of nice. I'm going to switch the tap over to 16ohm and look into waxing this old Mighty Mite #1300. Still frustrated though, kind of just spinning my wheels here.

Looking quickly through the comments after you posted that clip - i missed any info about the details of the clip...
how loud? Are you attenuating?

That clip was just a tone test for my latest 12 series build. I don't know what it is, but I always have a problem with too much gain so it's a huge challenge trying to control the amp while playing. It is attenuated just a bit only to protect the cab and is very loud in the room, the pickup is squealing like mad. Nothing in front except an old echoplex. I am stubbornly trying to keep things pure: guitar, echoplex and amp that stays within the parameters of the various stock inconsistencies from 67 to 69. Oh, here is layout for the 1959, including the pre-filter cap, hope that helps with the cap change. As long as you have enough wire to lift the cap from the top it should be no problem swapping in the 16/16 cap.rgalpin wrote:THE STUFF RIGHT HERE!! daggggone dude. SICK. Re: Stock 68 spec W/2"OT and such...
I liked the look of some original 68 Marshalls that have the little tag strip for wiring different voltage taps. I think it is also used to mount the capacitor for the polarity switch. Anybody ells know what these little strips housed, sometimes you see a couple of resistors on this board as well. I like how the little board hides the extra wires, it looks better than just bundling them off to the side. Robert, can you still get those longer eyelet turrets that George used on his boards, if so, I'd like to order a bunch.

Here is an original amp with the tag board.
