Any issues using a .0022uf Mica cap for coupling cap?

Post by harddriver » Tue Jan 24, 2017 12:09 am

Would there be any issues or benefits for using a .0022uf CDE mica cap for a coupling cap say in V1a position in a 2203 Marshall build instead of the usual metal film polyester or metal film polypropylene?

Would it produce a smoother cleaner tone than a typical polyester/polypropylene cap? Just curious... :listen:

There would not be any issue with using it as long as it is rated for at least 400vdc. As for sound, that is very subjective. I would try both types and see if you prefer one over the other.
