1/2 power layout

Post by Brentsp » Tue Nov 01, 2005 1:03 pm

I have the pentode/triode layout but would like to know how to do the actual 1/2 power by switching two of the tubes off/on.

Thanks in advance.

You just lift the cathodes on the inner or outer pair.

And would it be just be two wires from the switch.....one for each tube?

Its not in any way a half power switch. At least as far as perceived volume is concerned. Your talkign like a 2-3db drop. And really all it gives you is a totally uneeded switch when you could just pull 2 tubes. But you can add it easily if you wanted it.

I think the Pentode/Triode is generally more useful. To really lower the power, you'd need to lower the B+ to the power tubes like a lot of the old Musicman amps did.
