presence cap

Post by OnTheFritz » Fri Oct 21, 2005 10:58 am

Dumb question, this is the way the presence cap was on my old pot that I took out, and it looks different from the way I see it in the kit instructions, and on George's builds. What's the "right" way for the cap to be mounted?
Thanks in advance.

Their both correct. Their both different ways to wire a presence. Each sounds a bit different. Georges way is the traditional way. Im pretty sure the resistor was added with the higher .68u cap to improve the presence control and get rid of the scratchy noise but they do sound different. Ralle has experimented a lot with it and for his evh goals he likes the .68/4.7k better. I like using a .68 cap but I prefer teh normal way.

Thanks Dan I appreciate the help, and FWIW, I have a .1 cap that's going in place.
