I need new swamper resistors... in my '76 100W JMP MV they are 5.6k and there are four of them... one of them has a crack so I might as well replace all four... anyway what is the minimum wattage rating? Are 5.6k 1 watts ok for this? Or do I need some more girth?
Thanks.

Hey dudes, Just wanted to bump this topic back up, cause I don't quite get it.
I'm torn between which is the "right" way to do it. With 2 resistors, just the outside pair is "seeing that". Doesn't that cause some kind of imbalance?
I guess I don't really need to undertand it, I just want it to sound the best possible.
Any input would be appreciated.

Fritz, those resistors roll off high frequencies. That's how they prevent occillation. You only want t roll off nough to stabilize the output section, without dulling the sound.
As it turns out, using them on the two outside tubes usually keeps things stable.
If not, you can try using (4) lower values. The higher the value, the lower the cut off frequency.
