MODZILLA....any interest?

Post by pfrischmann » Mon May 09, 2005 10:38 am

I found an old guitar play which includes and article on how to mod a JCM-800 by adding an extra preamp tube. The mod is by Bruce Egnater. I may be able to scan it in if anybody is interested.

Actually I was thinking of that very article recently. I'd appreciate it if you could post it here, or e-mail it to me. Thanks.

Yeah please. I had the same article and was thinking about that the other day. Too bad I no longer have the magazine.

The mod is not that different from a Laney or Lee Jackson or Bogner. A few different values up front, but pretty close. I would like to try it sometime too.

i just did a similar mod to a Laney tube 50, which is a jcm800 clone. it was easy, took two hours and a couple of bucks. i used soldano SLO values for the resistors and caps. added the pre-tube. easy as monday morning.

I have a lee jackson ampeg. Its basically the 'put the pedal inside the amp' idea. A 2.7/.68 out front, coupling cap and volume... add a marshall circuit... voila. Its two channels... for the clean channel substitute fender.
