Bright switch ... what is it?

Is it a switch to change the value of the 500pf treble cap?

Im not sure if this is what you mean Gnu since I assume you know what it is but when I say bright switch Im personally refering to a switch that kills the bright cap on the bright volaume pot. I assume thats what everyone means. Any change to the treble cap up or down will seem to effect mid more then anything.

I've seen some plexi clones (voodoo amps has one) that have a "bright" switch. I'm not sure what it does but I thought it was interesting. Not sure if they take the bright cap out or not but I was guessing not since it appears to be a tonal thing.

Wouldnt a bright kill be just as tonal? Just like a Fender if your using a 500p or lower its going to add sparkle and cut to the high frequencies when in but only at low volume settings. Maybe its something else but changign the treble cap is usually known as a mid boost or mid shift. Hell it could be a split/shared cathode switch? You could probably email Trace and ask him.
