I've got a question about two resitors 100K in V1, is ok the 0,5 watt value? I've got a question about two caps after pi. What value do You recommend to put .047 or .01 to get smoother sound single coils stratocaster? Or maybe change 0022 in v1 to 022?
thanks

0.5 watt 100K resistors are fine for V1.
Personally I like the .022 caps after the phase inverter just fine with my Stratocasters, it keeps the low end from getting too mushy when I really smack a note. The .022 instead of the .0022 in the bright channel preamp is a must though, really fills out the sound of that channel.

I dont understand? What do you have there now? The 2 Marshall values are .1 and .022. You can certainly go in between those 2 Marshall values with .047 or even lower then Marshall for a brighter sound with .01 but I doubt youd really need to get brighter in the PI then .022 or bassier then .1. So to answer that question we'd really have to know relative to what value is in there now. My guess when you say smooth is its too bright. So maybe .047 would be good to try first then .1. If you want more clarity is what you mean then .022 if you dont have it already.martin g wrote:I've got a question about two caps after pi. I agree .022 for the bright channel coupler. Theres no need for that thin a sound in 1959s. Going to .022 will get you a touch thicker fatter sound without sacrificing clarity or cut.

Thanks
now I've got marshall values 022 afrter pi but I'd like try other values 047 and .1 . I coluld only check which value will be the best during the gig- laud playing for most time. So that my question I'd like to prevent not good sound on the gig.
What's the tone difference between ( resistors on v1 100k ) metal oxide, carbon comp and carbon film?

Honestly? I have no idea, if I try it and like the sound it stays.martin g wrote:thanks
what frequency treshold is on caps .1 , 0.47, 0.22 after PI?
First I think you should try changing the .0022uF to a .022uF on the bright channel in the preamp. You don't even have to remove the original .0022 if you don't want to, just solder the .022 right on top of it. See if that is enough of a change, it will add quite a difference in the thickness of your tone.
If it's not enough low end muscle for you, then go to the .047's after the PI. If it's still not enough try the .1's.
Just follow through one step at a time -- your tone will not sound worse than before if you only make one change each time.
