PT buzz/hum

Hey fellas - I did a search through the archives but didn't find a thread that directly answers my question, so here goes...
I have noticed there is kind of a 60hz mechanical buzz/hum in my PT when the amp is on. There isn't any hum or noise through a cab...just the PT itself. My old Marshall doesn't really make this noise, at least not to this extent, so I am wondering if there is anything to be concerned about.
thanks.

The Heyboer PT in my 67 build has done that from day 1 but my voltages have always been fine.
The only thing that concerns me is the PT gets QUITE HOT just in standby mode but I can touch the top of the end bell and the hum/vibration stops so I don't know if there really is anything wrong with it or not but I have never had any problems from it.
For now I have just learned to live with the noise from the hum. I may line the underside of the end bell with a thin piece of cardbaord or something though.

That's interesting. My PT gets really hot too when I run it cranked...more so than my '74 marshall. Like you, I don't have any issues with voltages or anything, and the amp sounds just fine.
The PT buzz doesn't really bother me, I guess I'm just curious what makes that happen.

When I first got my YBA-1 traynor, the Pt had a mechanical buzz that wasn't audible through the speakers. I took a look at the mounts and it appeared that it had taken a hit back in the day and one of the bell ends was slightly separated from the tranformer itself. I wrapped the separated edge in the silvery aluminium duct tape to see if it would help and the buzz went away.
Not sure if that was a great solution, but it worked allright.

My Metro power transf, in a 12000 build buzzes when the power is on and stops buzzing when out of standby, my freinds 67 clone with same transformer style did the same thing.
