Cap value for depth mod?

I forgot which value to use ... is it .002 or .0047? Or is it .022 and .047?

Would that be the Depth mod that soldano uses? We have a discussion goin on that could use some info about that in the DIY page.

Its basically the same as a presence knob only instead of running off frequencies to ground its in line with the NFB and the cap value youll probably want alot lower. gnu told me the Soldano Depth mod is just switching a .0047 in line with the NFB and out again. A resosnance control or deep knob can blend it in and out for more control like a twin to the presence knob that dials in bass instead of highs. You would wire a pot as a rheostat and solder the cap accross either end so that full down it bypasses the cap and full up the signal goes almost completely through. Kevin OConnor shows a 22n and 250k pot I think.

What amp did you use it on?

i tried it on my 2204 clone. farty. i just went back through that amp, changed some pre-amp values, moved some things around. etc. now i have achieved more bass, and much more gain. putting 1uf caps on all of the cathodes has this thing growling. i think i will try the .0047 in series with the NFB loop with a switch. the most important thing that i noticed is how important it is to mount the 68k input resistor on the tube socket and run shielded cable to it. its a must.
as soon as i get this 18watter sold im gonna start on the slo build.

i tried the .0047uf cap in series with the nfb loop. volume killer!! something cant be right about that.

That doesnt sound right. you have it before the NFB resistor right? If its reducing lower freq in the NFB that should make it louder in the lower freq in the output signal.
