Has anyone on here ever messed with switchable plate resistors to be able to choose the amount of compression?
Or would this not work in the way i would expect it to?

Re: Switchable plate resistors.
be careful, this is somewhat dangerous. USe a good switch and switch only with the power off. It is easier to switch the cathode resistor

Re: Switchable plate resistors.
So, is this something that is done or not really?
If i would try this i would put two resistors in parallel and bypass one if i wanted to raise the resistance.

I don't believe that I have ever seen it done...at least not on the bigger brands. Like Roe mentioned, be sure to use a quality switch and it's probably best to only switch when powered down.

Re: Switchable plate resistors.
Maybe try a pot instead? One rated for big power. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I use a high-wattage pot to test B+ dropping resistor value. Should work for the V1a plate load resistor too.

You could build a circuit with high voltage FETs with low internal resistance instead of a switch or relay.
