What happens when you watch too many chopper building shows
and then work on amps????
Eventually you'll find a reason to cut something up.
This Bluebreaker reissue is getting a complete rebuild. All Heyboer transformers. PTP board. Correct filter caps. The works.
I'll post the progress.

Bluesbreaker rebuild
Let us know how ther progress continues. I'm curious to know if you can fit KT66's in there. I'm skeptical as to whether they'll fit in mine because it's already so tight in there with the JJ 6L6's.
I too am curious what you decided to do with the tremolo circuit. Like I said before, I personally am happy with a new circuit or the old one. I just want it to HAVE tremolo!

Bluesbreaker
I'm also curious how the Heyboer iron sounds in the Bluesbreaker. I had been considering buying a Wallace tranny in preparation for your upcoming Bluesbreaker board, but thought I'd wait to hear comments on how the Heyboer's sound in the JTM45 circuit.

First, let me say that I filed that hole to size by hand. Looking back at the pics, it shows the rough cut and then the power trans in place.
I'm working on a layout for the replacement BB board with the new tremelo circuit in place. The original is just too crappy. I tried everything I could think of to optimize it. Well, everything short of putting a Mullard OC44 transistor in there.
This project is the prototype for the new layout, so the BB RI board is in sight. Sorry for the delay guys.
The Heyboer trannies are as good as the specs I have them built to. They build them right, with high quality materials. But it's up to me to give them the correct specs. So far, so good.
I'll tell you a secret, just don't let it come back to haunt me......

Hey Eric (he's the owner of this amp) you seemed a little uncertain on the phone. Maybe that first pic was too much.
I thought I'd better post the finished PT install to give you some peace of mind.

Bluesbreaker - will the KT66's fit . . . ?
OK George, you're making me drool over the upcoming Bluesbreaker board. I think I'm convinced the transformer swap is a good idea too. What I am most curious to see is if you end up being able to put KT66's in there and still get chassis back in. Enquiring minds need to know!

Inquiring minds do want to know. But the jury is still out, since no one has sent me a complete amp yet. They send only the chassis to save on shipping costs.
However, Rudy in Arizona got his BBRI back last week. It uses KT-66's and he didn't mention any problems. I'll see if I can get him to chime in.
