This also one of those things you learn to recognize from experience.

Its probably on par with a tug boat horn. The only time Ive made that mistake is with my TWreck clone which was about 35 watts, not nearly as loud as a 100W Marshall would be. I have a parasitic in my newest 100W build thats just drivin me up the friggin wall. It took me so long to get the parts and build this thing and Im pissed.
A tug boat horn perfectly describes it  Up until that moment I had never dealt with an amp going into positive FB or being unstable like that so I really thought that I had screwed something up and that was what was pissing me off because I did not do anything different in the installation process that I didn't do when I installed the clone OT, other than have to drill the mounting holes and pass-through holes for the wires since this OT needed to be turned 90 degrees.

I was quite proud of myself because the job turned out beautiful and then when the "tug boat horn" sounded off, that really took the wind out of my sails ( no pun intended )

I'm just thankful that I had access to some knowledgeable people about it which fixed the problem quickly. This is the best BB for straight tech talk.

It's cool in one way because now I know the sound of positive FB and what the probable cause can be. I can't believe how much I have learned about my amp in the short amount of time I have been hanging out on this board. Great stuff. Great people.

Dan,

You bring up another subject that get's quite a bit of attention, that being parasitic osillation. I don't know that I have ever heard what that sounds like so if I where to run across that I may not know what it is. I have an idea but that's all it is. In any case, I hope you find the source of the problem with your amp.
