I wimped out and had George, The Man build it. I had trouble figuring out the MV Circuit. I can't translate a schematic to a circuit board to save my life.
It is a beayty though!!

The Dagnall clone sounds great in the MV circuit, too.

Hi Dax-I know it's a slightly old thread but I am interested in learning from you as I have a 2204 from 1978 which my tech has just added George's Heyboer Output Trannie to.( we ordered it to go in a Marshall 1987 re-issue but are experimenting!!)
Prior to adding the Heyboer the amp was a bit bass light and not as ballsy as my other 2204 which has the std PTP with Sozo's added. Now it is a lot better and seems more alive but still not quite as full as my other 2204 but I am wondering about adding George's MV PTP? Is there more balls /tone to be had?
As well as any thought's I would be grateful to hear why you changed the whole PCB in your 2203 rather than replacing caps with Sozo'z?
The current ptp has green caps? and new JJ El34L's and G-tubes pre-amp in v1 and JJ's in V2 and 3.
thanks
Nick

The advantage to adding george's board is this. I did it in both my 76'ers and the difference was huge! I must have had some failing components on the pcb that i didn't know about. My 76' 2203 sounded like trash. Very thin and when cranked, would just completely mush out. I wanted to throw it away! I converted it to 1987 specs with a Metro PTP and it sounds huge!! With a new board you know all components are top notch.

I just purchased a 2204 board kit from George last night. It's going in an 83' that is unmolested, but has those white box caps in it.
The heater wires aren't twisted either, they're just laying there shoved up against the chassis. wonder if i should re-do those while it's apart. Just doesn't look professional like all the pic's here on the forum. Maybe new inputs like Dax did as well. Not trying to highjack the thread, but any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fritz

The 50 Watt 1987 is stock, The 2203 has the Metro Dagnall Clone OT. It cranks pretty good!!!
