Installed the Mustards!

Post by Dax-The-Ax » Sun Mar 27, 2005 2:06 pm

I installed the .022 mustards, and i have to tell you, I think i like the Sozo's a little better.I do like the sound, but it's different. The Sozo's seem more crunchy, edgy or in your face, My amp with Sozo's seemed more 70's Metalface sounding. The Mustards are smoother and creamier, they sound more like a late 60's Superlead. Kinda Cream Crossroads sounding. It is good, though. Although i will never buy Mustards again after i'm finished filling this guy with them. The Sozo's are just fine.

Here's a pic. Shit, i cleaned this amp up and it's still sloppy!!!

At least the board looks good  . The inside of your's & mine look similar as far as wiring (exception being the MV wiring, which I shielded & added a small tree on top).

By the way, how much did you pay for those Mustard caps?

Crap, ouch.

Oh well. If it were sonic nervana ... (and to some it probably is ...) it would be like pure gold.

I've lost that much in purchases/sales etc. trying to find that 'tone ... which is why I finally bought a Marshall (and then modified it with the ptp board). Almost there ...

Ps I hope that you like them enough that you're not too disapointed ... (and they'll last longer than tubes ....).

The amp sounds good, but i am contemplating putting the Sozo's back in!! I like their clarity and punch. Although, since playing my upgraded 100 Watter, the 50 just doesn't seem as strong.
