A Few Tube Questions

Post by Dax-The-Ax » Sat Mar 05, 2005 2:26 am

My 76' 1987 puts out 365 Volts at the plates. Kinda low. But the amp sounds awesome. I put in a set of Ruby EL34BSTRs (Big Bottles) and when i hit very low notes or chords, i get a rattling sound, sounds like a badly blown speaker rattle. Switched the tubes out for JJE34L's and problem gone. I put the Ruby's in my 100 watt JCM800 and i don't get the rattle. Could the Tubes be overpowering the 50 watter or something? I know little about tubes.

2nd, are Sovtek EL34's worth a shit? What are your opinions of these.

Thanks
Dax
