Tolex Replacement

Post by Dax-The-Ax » Thu Feb 24, 2005 6:02 pm

I may be buying a stripped, bare 100 Watt Marshall Head Box, where is the best place to send it for a Re-Tolex and new Piping?

Mojo does great work, but I don't think they are the cheapest place.

Someone told me Paul Kress wraps a head box for $85. I haven't seen his work myself, though.

This may sound absurd to alot of you, but I bought a raw head cab from Paul Kress, and am going to have it sprayed with the new coatings they are putting on PA cabs.....which is (you guessed it) more or less bed liner!!!!

Still not sure exactly how it will look cosmetically, but it won't get any scuffs on it this way, that's for sure.

This newer stuff (I know, I know, not the same vibe as tolex) is unbelievably tough!!! They're spraying concrete blocks with it, hurling them off 2 story buildings without them busting!!!!

Who knows, I may hate the way it looks and end up getting a tolexed head cab afterward.....

But I just gotta try it!!! :)
Let's get going, 'cause there's too much music, too little time!!!!

Never thought of Rhino Liner to cover a head or cabinet. Let us know how it turns out. Yeah that stuff is pretty indestructable, AND you can get it in almost any color you want if thats your thing.

I have a good friend who owns a sound company. He builds PA cabs and has some covered with the bed liner stuff. The trick is to get the plyable type, ot the rigid stuff. Or else it will chip as the humidity changes and the wood expands and contracts.

Other than that, it's a very rugged covering.
