Mighty glad you're back Bill. Good to hear from you. I didn't think we could possible be done with everything about old Marshalls and tubes. Surely Kim K would have something to say about such an important historical period. Do you suppose she knows who Jimi is?

like many, i don't think she knows about this old dude being Lucky to come to light thanks to kenny west ... ( Paul mc cartney ? ) , so i don't think she's even aware of guitar legends
her husband is "a musical Genius" according to his own words.
And .... Marshall circuits ?? come on ......
funny, last week i went to a studio for photo and tv in paris , where the fantastic photographer Jean paul Goode ( very talented artist ) took her giant ass in photo he he.

Everybody must be kind of tired of what we've been talking about. I may have to start telling stories about what life was like at West Coast Organ and Amp, especially when the big stars came in.
There must be some more Marshall amp interest too. Have we covered everything?
I'll be up in the mountains for two or three weeks with no internet access. If I never log on again you'll know I got eaten by coyotes.

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
nobody is tired of what we've been talking about. for sure.
i think that peoples simply need time to digest all this very rich information, and test mods by themselves, ( all this among other things from their lives like jobs etc ) to later have some perspective and wonder about other things. This is a bomb with a big impact, you maybe don't realize yet
things will certainly come up.
for example, you mentionned that you had one of jimi's wahs , and you talked about it. it would be very cool to see the first guts ever seen of such wah !
one question i'd have is about the studio versus lives : this is a very important element of Jimi's work. he sounded so different from one to the other.
So other than Eddie kramer and roger mayer involved , did he ask you for some specific requests , for the studio ? did you observe some settings also in studios ? did he have some prefered toys versions for the studio , over the live field ?
and one last question for now : about all the other artists. Please, can you tell us about the requests and storys from all of our favourite bands ? maybe in a new thread, so this one remains Hendrix connected first.
please don't get eaten by coyotes
and come back ! you might receive my fuzz build when you come back, i sent it the other day, along with shakti's pcb.
oh, one last last one for now : please, if you find pictures of the west coast shop and place where you worked, with amps and all that, this would be fantastic to figure how it was.

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
Been busy with family stuff and all. Alot of stuff to do.
I need to source more component if i want to build something.
Am reading everyday the new post
, i just dont know what to say
I've been very satisfied with my setup so am not doing much testing. in fact it is sounding so good
I think i found the sweet spot accidently, so its like the "holy setup" for me, can't touch it, can just plug and play it as-is (I do not even move the amp and pedals, am not joking)loll.

Agree with Xplorer - the lull in activity here is typical; we obsess and spend way too much time with one thing and on one subject, then real life catches up, we have to make amends to the wife, other things come up and catches our interest. Soon enough things will be bustling here again. Although I can't quite explain the never ending feverish activity in the EVH section - is there any aspect about his setup which hasn't been discussed to death by now?
I will be sure to post again, probably a lot, when I get a chance to try the WC fuzz. And I would also love to see any photos from WC back in the day!

Yay! Let's get some action going here again. Once we get some fuzzes out there things will pick up.

oh cool ! just saw that peoples are back and that coyotes didn't eat you
glad you got the boards and fuzz. i'd never have imagined that one day in my life i'd send a fuzz to Dave Weyer, to compare it to the very prototype of fuzz made for Jimi. this is so cool !

Haven't got to the FF boards yet, still trying to catch up on all the other things that unravelled during my time away.

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
there's no hurry, there's just a cool discussion and experiments here, where time doesn't really matter.
i recently replugged my superlead and i realised that i missed him ! fantastic amp too. i like the way it is with el34, stock.
so i'll have another one built someday, to have the 6550 version, and the el34 version.

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
ha ha. yeah, why not.
i don't realise what daisy chain really is, and how it affects the tone. i tried once to plug a jack between the bottom high channel of an amp to the top high channel of another but ... nothing really.
i may daisy chain two 45/100, two superleads , and later a vox ac30 clone, a super reverb clone, a cp103 clone ...
i'll need a lot of speakers
i bet that Neil or thorleif and roe tried that !
