Re: Jimi Hendrix 1967 Blackflag
The caption says it's October 20, 1968. He used the Black Flag extensively onstage around that time, so it makes sense. He had a black Strat with a maple cap neck earlier on as well, he uses it on the Swedish TV recording from May '67.

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1967 Blackflag
Before any more esoteric reasons are considered - might it be that the advantage of the pinstripe cabs is the absence of the metal handles that might rattle and produce noises with very high volumes, especially with g12H's - more bottom, etc.? There must be a reason why he used pinstripes up to almost 69 (according to this pic) and most probably even longer. It is also said that the 45/100 (#7026? he he) was used in studio until his death and the whole valeys of neptune stuff is a 45/100. After i heard this info and listened closely to Neptune, i think there might be something about it - certainly doesn't sound like the later Superleads from Filmore, rather a black flag or a 45/100.

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1967 Blackflag
that pic of a polarity switch amp can be found on the crosstown torrent site yes. the JMPs were the first amps offered with a polarity swich that I'm aware of. this means that this is a late 67 amp at the earliest. it could have a dual rectifier, but a single rectifier is more probableXplorer wrote:all i could find, don't know where i found it, perhaps the crosstown torrent site

Note the thin vent!
Just for additional motivation for Adrien to dig deeper
yes, that pic was posted on the crosstown turrents site and I commented there that it shows a narrow lip, probably a 1967 el34 amp. but it could also be one of the last kt66 amps

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1967 Blackflag
Notice that it's a Super Tremolo amp (8 knobs). As I mentioned, during this time he used a setup onstage of two extra tall pinstripe stacks (well worn), one JTM45/100 and one Black Flag (see photo in my Black Flag build thread). I don't think any of those amps was a Super Tremolo, and the only Black Flag I've seen Jimi with was not a Super Tremolo.

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1967 Blackflag
ops my bad. Sorry But I thought that polarity switches were a leagal requirement for all US exports so why would JMP vs JTM be any different. Maybe some one could chime in

AFAIK, Marshall amplifiers weren't officially distributed in the U.S. until the JMP era (circa '67).
