I used MixIR - a plugin from redwirez,m which allows you to easily mix the IR's together. Up to 24 simultaneously if you wish to do so
You can adjust on the fly how much you mix in each of them - a great tool. Yes, reverb was altiverb, but i accidentaly saved changes to the file and i overwrote the previous altiverb settings that i used on that track. But, if i'm not mistaken, it was the preset you sent me some time ago. It is a good preset, but a bit too bassy, which tends to clip the output of cubase, which in turn makes lowering of the output volume necessary. Btw. i think you should post the clip you did with your SL, transducer and altiverb - it was the best approximation of the BoG tone i have heard on the net (probably due to the way how close the room acoustics were dialed in). You can't achieve this with analog stuff in an appartment - it would be a very interesting pointer towards the digital recording alternatives, which are not inferior, if done right.
I will have to re-read your mail and i have to take a look into my stash. I'll let you know if i have anything you need in the next couple of days.

nice ! new cool softs ! i'll try it, you had some amazing results.
hey, a pro effects and amp builder told me about another cab sim, after we talked about redwirez, he said that he had some great results with it. i didn't try it yet.

thanks for the compliment ! but i think that it was so far from BOG. but i have some big expectations from the jtm, and some new setups. i set altiverb differently now, and it doesn't clip like this.
i heard it again and i prefer to post something of a better quality later. it really clips so much. also it sounds more isle of whight than BOG i think.
ok, let me know when you can for the rest, thank you.

Hi Karlis ! as i'm about to prepare my buid , i wondered how to wire the amp with the larry grounding. The best that would help me over everything i've seen or read, would be a layout if you have any that you did for your build ?
Thanks !

While working on my recording techniques, i recorded a small clip to demo the tones that come out of this beast. Bright volume 10, normal volume 0, all controls, including bass! (a revalation to me), on 5-6 on the dial, Mids on 7.

Just out of curiosity i recorded the same cab and mic setting with my non tremolo Marshall 18w clone. It was on the lower gain input and the volume was maxed, tone on 0 from 10 (i don't like it's tone very much above 5 on the tone control). It's an ok sound on it's own, but to me it sounds simply wimpy compared to the big bottle amps. I suppose a JTM-45 with 6v6's would be a better idea for lower wattage Marshall tones.

It sounds really dark, how does it sound with the tone on 5 ?

The 45/100 clip is also on the dark side, as the mic is set in a way that does accentuate the lows and mids.
Here is the 18w with tone on 5. Above that it accentuates some high mid frequencies that sound to me like something is cooking on a frying pan - i hate what ever frequency that is (except if it is in the kitchen).
The 18w is simply shrill when driven hard, at least to my taste. It has a nice clean and semi clean with a strat though.

Thanks, I much prefer it that way but it still does not sound as good as your 45/100 clip. Probably too much low mids for my liking but the 45/100 has more clarity but like you said the top end is really smooth.

Yes, the 45/100 is actually a surprsingly bright amp. Not as bright as the later models. But miced up in this darkish setting it still retains all the clarity, detail and texture one could ask for. There is simply much more going on frequency wise i suppose - not just in the bass and low mids section.

the 18w sounds very good but the 45/100 beats them all
what if you lower the basse settings a bit ? is it becoming too harsh or something ?
and what about the same clip on the 45/100 ( and a bit of acdc please ! problem child, hells bells, shook me all night long .... ) with a blumlein arrangement ?

The Se R1's in Blumlein config sound great, but i have to figure out, if it is possible to get the proper punch and raw power feeling out of just the Blumlein pair. It's extremely hard to do if you're recording in the same room as the amp.

oh, and on the bass setting - no it does not become harsh in any way, but when bass is on about 5 it gives the tone that punch and impact, that power - it does not just add bass, it changes the whole tonal picture. I just saw a clip by Solodallas where Phil says that Angus used to dial in the bass also at about 5 on his JTM's - so this explains why it gets that ac/dc vibe easily with the bass quite a bit up. Will do more experimentation when i have the time, but these results made me really even more happy with the 45/100. Still looking forward to the 69 SL build though
