I like the 'Unleashed In The East' album. It's probably not really 'live', but it KICKS ASS !

'Screaming For Vengeance' is awesome too.

The thing about getting old is that you lose alot of energy and you get too comfortable, and that takes the heavy POWER away from your playing style :o . Plus, in Rob Halfords case, you lose your vocal power and range, though he can still 'stab' at certain things every now and then.

Oh yeah, great performance. I love hearing a frontman give it ALL live. Halford really did on songs like 'Bloodstone' and 'Riding On The Wind'.

I think my single favorite Judas Priest song/performance was when they did 'The Green Manilishi' at the LIVE AID thing in '84 (or was it '85 ?).

Unleashed in the east is one of the best live metal albums of all time great riffs, and solos! The Screaming for Vengeance Tour concert from 82 in Memphis is one of the Best Live concert videos you can watch!!! get it and crank it up. Killer complimentary guitar work between Glen and KK!and Halford's voice is unreal at that show. Also the crew who shot and edited the show did a GREAT JOB, can not say enough about the quality of that Show!

Just go buy the damn thing and be amazed!!!

Christmas time, so my daughter offer me the special 30th anniversary 'Screaming For Vengeance' CD+DVD witch includes US Festival from 1983 footage, and it's 1 hour of heavy metal energy. These guys rocks... Awesome concert
By the way, we can see the backstage, and for instance the Pete Cornish pedal boards, a must to see.

Very cool, I gotta check that out. Pete Cornish boards have always lived in Myth to me. Priest, Maiden, and possibly RRhoads board were all Cornish builds. I think a major part of the old Priest sound was from plugging into the Bass channel on thier amps, then hitting the front end hard with a cornish treble booster along with further push from a MXR distortion + and/or a 10 band eq.
I dont see why they stopped using this very same set up (cornish boards). They had thier OWN sound back then, as did Iron Maiden and the Scorpions. All those bands used to use thier own 'unique' little ways, to get at thier singular tones.

Now, it seems like these bands get such a generic sound, though I still like them all.

Yeah that's kewl ! Attack on the guitars, true analogic sound (at least for the band), the few we can see backstage is a bunch of 100w heads (1959 I would suppose) since they didn't use those on the stage.
Seen the footage five times, I can't resist...
Happy new year buddies!!

I agree with the old way these bands used to get their tone with the bass channel and a treble-booster. I've used this myself and its a great hard rock tone. These guys should bring it back.

This version of Rapid Fire with Metallica is great, Halford still sounding on top form
