Early Alex Lifeson tone

I've been listening to some early Rush recently and been digging the tone of Alex Lifeson on the first Rush record. For those who got the ears or might know, was he using a NVM 50w Marshall with 6550?

I don't know about the power tubes, but I read where both Alex Lifeson from Rush and Gary Ritchrath (from REO Speedwagon) used Gibsons into old early MXR Distortion+ pedals into Marshall Super Leads... (And Randy Rhoads, though his Marshalls were slightly modded...)

The working man clip is not only great tone but it sounds just like the album. I kind of doubt there's a pedal involved - certainly could be wrong but all of my marshalls on '10' can easily do that, or those w/ the second stage .68 bypass by about '7'. And who said trapeze tailpieces don't rock!

Boy that's an ugly chick they have for a singer

I wish Alex would've kept that early sound!
