Always loved his pig major tone and the LP custom with the sanded top he worked his mojo on. Lots of great youtube live vids of Bowie and the spiders. 8)

Love the solo on Moonage Daydream. One of my first guitar heroes.

There was an interesting story about Mick Ronson and 'the pig' in this Fender book:

http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Tone-Celebra ... 61-9709222

The rough version is that the guy (who I think worked for Marshall...can't remember his name) played through his (Ronson's 'the pig') amp and it was by far the most horrible sounding Marshall that he had ever heard in his entire life. Mick Ronson's response was "that's the amp I used to record EVERYTHING...all the Bowie albums, Ian Hunter stuff, etc".

The point of the story was that it's not the equipment but the player that creates the sound...

One of my big three guitar heros, the grandfather of trippy pop rock as far as I'm concerned. Probably left us with the most memorable guitar tracks of any musician in the last 50 years. Almost makes me want to play a LP :)
