Re: Thin Lizzy
Great points and well said. I respect the opinions of most of the Metro forum members (Truly one of the BEST all around forums), and WE KNOW what great music is, unlike the masses, who very honestly, live like ants in an ant farm. I've been called 'wierd' and many other things, but at least I'm not a 'commoner', like those who, as mentioned earlier, listen to American Idol and consider it talent.

Re: Thin Lizzy
Good solid performance last night.
Special Guests to include Ricky Fortus from G&R.
Scott was using a Plexi clone (gold logo top left corner ? ) 2 different ENGL heads w/ Marshall bottoms. (LP w/whammy)
(I played through a couple of them and really liked the seemless foot switching. Oh yeah sounds good too.)
Vivian was very discipline playing very mature & tastey. He was using Marshall bottoms as well with a Metalface (?)
and a Fulltone tape echo.
3 encore's too !
Off to Jeff Beck tonight...

Re: Thin Lizzy
yep. Viv also played a double cutaway LP gold top which seemed to be his solo guitar of choice.
Seriously, I thought that he was going to attack the songs like Sykes. I've seen that line up ( with Scott)
and he was relentless.
Forgot to mention bass player extrodinaire Marco Mendoza. Love that guy !

Re: Thin Lizzy
Yeah, it's strange hearing VIV in Def Leppard. He just plays very standard/normal in that group. Phil Collen actually is the so called 'hot' guitarist in Leppard now, but hell, VIV in his DIO day's could pull off some blistering, wailing leads. I saw Viv in Whitesnake, and he was pretty boring. Vandenburg played great however. Guess he is still content on playing cliched Rock licks like he did in Def Leppard, in Thin Lizzy now.
I wish that Brian Robertson would rejoin. He NEVER got 'technical' like alot of guitarist did in the '80's. Viv and DeMartini, started out all hot and flashy (but still toneful and fairly tasteful), only to regress back to a fairly boring kind of style.
I agree, Sykes kept that energy and agressive attack.
I remember in my formative yrs (early-mid '80's) that there were three European guitarist who had this great, fast pentatonic style with melodic type structure and hints of chromatic and diminished scales. I also remember thinking "These guy's have obviously been listening to Gary Moore ".
They were/are Vivian Campbell, John Sykes and John Norum.
