Ritchie has been partaking of 'ye olde meade' by the looks of the picture and that's probably a fellow minstrel or Ian Anderson's brother  .

This site alleges that Yngwie pulled the plug on the shred videos,

hmmm... there was a lot of "genuine" passionate and sincere input by you and other people posted it the first YJM thread... That's no joke, Dave...
Could of just "continued" with the old thread...

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyway... I know there's a lot of people who think Yngwie plays too many notes or to that effect. But his phrasing and choice of notes are without a doubt passionate and has tons of feeling at those speeds.
I hear his fury and his sadness constantly. I would like to hear more of a happy (Major/ Dom7th feel) to change things up.
His guest appearances on other artists music is jaw dropping and never ceases to amaze.
I can see why people ridicule his technique and his display of arrogance but if you haven't heard his other works your just labeling him just to bash him.
I would like to see him "drop" the YJM thing and be a player in someone else's band.
He would do a tremendous job and I would think a guy of his caliber would be up for the challenge the in music, and, for once, put aside his leadership role to really turn some heads.
He is amazing live and always delivers.
It's a fact that if he's pissed at a show for whatever reason he plays better and with ruthless fury.

It's funny at times it seemed like Ed was just the lead guitar player for Sammy...

Although no Paganini, Joshua Bell will be intown this coming Sunday. Unfortunately I'm working the auto show 'round the clock Sun/Mon... :(

Jimi you are right about that, I just didn't want to keep posting under a Malmsteen section started by someone who deleted all my previous Malmsteen and Hendrix Topics, if you remember, that's why the new thread, it's a personal thing for me and since I have for years poured my heart and soul into it, I wanted to make a point, thanks for noticing. :)

Yngwie's long-awaited CD is now in its final stages of creation, with a tentative release date of July 2008. The new lineup that will take Yngwie's new album on the road will be Yngwie on guitars (of course!), Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals, Bjorn Englen on bass, Michael Troy on keys, and Patrik Johansson on drums.

Hey folks. How are we all?

Big fan of Yngwie's first record. His tone is very clean sounding and a complete contrast to the sound he has these days. To cut the chase, I'm after this early tone. I have a 71' Marshall 50 Watter, Yng Strat and a Analogman Modded DOD 308. Yes, shamefully, I'm a total fanboy for that early sound. I'm curious to know how he set the DOD and his Marshalls in those days.

Cheers guys.

SM

Welcome SeventiesMonk! Look at the earlier Malmsteen artistes thread as well.
I believe he had the gain allmost full up and the volume as well.
Sounds like you have the amp and guitar setup down.
I am a fan through Magnum Opus at least, Yngwie favoring more distortion on his sound these days.
I'm hoping for a return to the older tone myself on the new lpee :)

Jimi,
You are so right on the money here... especially on dropping the YJM thing and playing in a band. I'd love to hear what he could do if he was to simply focus on playing guitar and collaborating on writing songs.
