I got the whole Japan show where Luke jammed with Santana and Beck. Aside from being coked up, he played great. His sound was overprocessed, but he also got f*cked in the mix.
JB's tone was nothing to write home about either. A Rat into a few Twins was raw and shit sounding in it's own right. They had him jacked in the mix.

I just put up a ton of JB vids-

I have the original boot VHS of the Beer Festival Japan Concert, yes the sound was off somewhat, but Since We've Ended, still is my favorite version. I like Luke in the band context, like Toto, ect. But he was the epitome of what was wrong with the whole LA sound at that time, cheesy overprocessed rack crap, much fury signifying nothing.
Of course I like my fury to have cleanly picked and articulated notes, with killer vibrato, I wonder who plays like that.. :o

Saw those a while back Mike, good stuff! As I said before the Osaka version of "Since We've Ended.." is still the best version I have ever heard and of course Jeff makes it look so easy, great Esquire tones. The sound at that show isn't unfortunately a good soundboard, but the performance is magical.

OK, all you Beck heads take the time and download this NOW! It's the best close ups of JB at work I have ever seen. You still won't be able to figure out what he is doing.

For all you guys that can take Beck or leave him or don't see the mastery give this one a shot. If it doesn't do it for you than carry on but I think there will be a few converts.

BTW, there clips all over youtube from this vid so you can check it out there, too.

This is produced killer , the sound is killer, Beck is killer, his band is killer and the whole club setting is very cool!

people that don't know what Jeff Beck is about will be converted in about 60 mins.

I will have to remind you again Mike of when I saw BBA at the Imperial College, London, from about like eight feet away from the Oxblood, even had to pee and didn't leave my standing room only spot (4 pints of Guiness draft), of course I was still a man in those days....  . I will never forget watching the mastery before my eyes.. :D :D
