I owned many of the shut up and play your guitar albums at one time or another, they were deadly. Give him some room to stretch out, like...oh...256 bars or so...and he'll blow your mind. Muffin man off of Bongo Fury is one of my favourite "pop" lead breaks of his. There's a big triple wrenched bender near the end that's just priceless, he just sits on it like he's channeling Neil Young.

I have Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, the superb Hot Rat's, Frank's cool Straight record label introduced me to Alice Cooper and Troutmask Replica by Captain Beefheart, not forgetting the GTO's, these are all incredible LP's I am proud to own :D
Frank also toured with cool Marshalls as well.

I get asked who's your favorite guitarist a lot, and I usualy get a very puzzled look when I tell them Frank Zappa. most people have no idea what a bad ass guitarist he was. and I would take Zappa's tone over EVH's any day.

Hey bartak, nice beard.
Have I offended someone? :D
I'm sure you can take it...

Do you also play his music? I played in a Zappa coverband for years and always enjoyed the freedom while soloing.

Sh... so that doesn't work. I wanted to link to 'Orange Claw Hammer' on youtube - a rare radio version with CB on voc and FZ on guit. Nice one.

Did you ever recognize that Zappa never wrote an emotional song or lovesong in his entire career? Or does 'I have been in you' or 'Love of my life' count here?

'Oh no, I don't believe it... '

I had the pleasure to see Frank live in Chicago "Broadway the Hard way" Tour. A gifted entertainer and blazing riffs abound. Always surrounded himself with the upper crust when it came to choosing musicians.

sure he's a great musician but i have to say some of his music is too far out for me ( although many if not most of my favorite bands were drug users) despite he was not taking drugs !!
