Mick Ralphs

Post by NY Chief » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:50 am

Just heard some Bad Co on the radio and I forgot how smooth and lyrical Raplh's playing is. And GREAT tone and vibrato. Surely a very enjoyable player to listen to. Every note counts and says something, like a BB King or Brain May. So refreshing as compared to the shred fests.

Very simple and solid player. Wrote some of the hottest riffs! That's what it's all about.. they rhythm and riffs baby. I always tend to drift away to more challenging technical music, but I always come back to classic rock and blues. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FEELING!

The first two Bad Co albums were pretty good but I think he did his coolest stuff with Mott.

Big fan here. When I was 13 I saw Bad Co. with the Outlaws (76-77?). What a great show. His style and tone always influenced me.

My favorite Mick Ralphs guitar solos have to be in Rock&Roll Queen and in All the Way from Memphis. That's some good stuff!

I'm partial to "Movin On" though "Memphis" IS a classic!
