I think I got the last ali chassis with my bare bones kit...(and as SOON as my f'n music room is done I'm gonna build a '67....Flames1950 wrote:The '66 JTM45/100 was built on the same aluminum chassis as the '67 and '68 clones....and those clones sucked George dry. I'd guess a total of five JTM45/100's got built before those ran out, George's prototype, mine and I think Mike did three......
Then the steel chassis run was in, and George wanted to do block-end ali chassis for the JTM45/100's like the '66 he got....so there's no aluminum chassis currently left for any more of these bad boys......
There was one or two JTM45/100 clips sandwiched into the older thread with '67 replica clips IIRC.

I think by far the vast majority were made into everyone's '67-'68 clones as they've been the craze for a few months.NY Chief wrote:I think I got the last ali chassis with my bare bones kit...(and as SOON as my f'n music room is done I'm gonna build a '67....Flames1950 wrote:The '66 JTM45/100 was built on the same aluminum chassis as the '67 and '68 clones....and those clones sucked George dry. Don't wanna hijack this sticky so I'll start a new thread, but THE PURPLE BEAST is here!! George's 12000 series, s/n 003.
Plugged my Page Paul in and ran the amp into a 4-12 Metro cab w/ Silver Bells. In a word HOLYMOTHERFUCKINGOUTFUCKINGRAGEOUS TONE!
I only got to play it about 20 minutes but anyone who can't get close enough VH tone out of this is full of shit. Rolling back on the treble really tames the hi mid's and gets more into AC/DC territory.
More to come as I noodle with.
GREAT Fuckin job George!
Here's pic with it's little Brother.

I'm gonna have to polish my chops to do it justice. I don't have any recording gear at the moment. As soon as I finish my music room I'll get some clips recorded. But Like George has been saying the clips at their best do not do this amp justice!

Re: '67 replica with new Sozo caps sound clip
this is about the best angus clip I've ever heard. You have the right amp and right type pups. However I thought that ang's bridge pup had moe output.VelvetGeorge wrote:The wave file sounds much better, but this will give you an idea.
Have a drink on me. Les Paul with T tops - '67 replica - '70 cab with G12H's - e609 - Mackie mixer set flat - RME Multiface - Cool edit Pro 32 bit mono.
'67 replica specs: new Sozo caps. Tung Sol pres (you need to try these) JJ E34L's. Vol II on 10, treble 8, middle 10 bass 4, presense 5.
EDIT: this is a new clip with both an SM57 and the e609 mics.
