Metro GPM 45 & Scumback clips
Not sure how many here know this, but there's a DVD in production called "Get Killer Tone" being recorded right now. Guitarist Doug Doppler has assembled a ridiculous pile of pedals, amps, cabs, etc to make this. He's doing mp3 clips along the way and posting them on the TGP forum as he progresses with the recordings.
The TGP thread is here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=611738" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There's a complete list of the gear being recorded on the 1st page (7 page thread so far) to check out.
Doug has the 71 Marshall I restored a few months back, loaded with M75/H75 100w speakers (he wanted to blast a Marshall Major through it...so....) and is doing his best to fully break in those speakers for me. Many more clips on the thread if you care to check them out, but here are some of the Metro and the Scumback loaded cab.
GPM 45/Scumback/Analogman Chorus clip here:
http://www.GetKillerTone.com/audio/Anal ... It%20a.mp3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is the Beano Boost, which is his killer take on the Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster. It's not totally Brian May, but you get the idea. Note the harmony stack is root, fifth, third. Les Paul > Beano Boost > Metropoulos GPM 45 head > Vintage Marshall Scumback 4x12 loaded cabinet (again)..
http://www.GetKillerTone.com/audio/Anal ... Queeno.mp3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Great stuff! Doug is doing these clips up right. I'm loving the gear choices.

He's got just about every known/worthwhile piece of gear there I think. He wanted the old Marshall cab there so bad that he drove down from the Bay Area to come get it. Now that's dedication. I just didn't want to ship that cab after restoring it. So when he said he'd drive down to get it, I agreed to let him use it for the tracks. Same one you had at your room in LA, just with an M75/H75 100w mix in it for this recording session.

Did you fix the input in the back? I remember the cord rattled out a few times in LA... I'd hate to see him blow a transformer! Great sounding clips!

That input jack didn't need fixing, the speakers just moved so much air that it blew the jack plug out! LOL My solution was an all new back panel, with a Cliff jack and new wiring...and by the way you guys took my roll of tape you used to keep the plug in and left with it.gutpile wrote:Did you fix the input in the back? Now I'm not upset at the roll of tape being absconded with, but not sending me pics of the bondage scene with Reinholdt later DOES PISS ME OFF!
So somebody get on it and send me that...NOW!
