"Wait" guitar solo with my gear

Post by rawel34 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 5:47 pm

Here's my version of a beautiful-melody guitar solo, originally played by a GREAT guitarist of a 80's rock band : White Lion's and the Man is Vito Bratta.
Tune is called "Wait" and someone slightly older will remember that.
To me it's amazing that the same guitar sound changes with different ways to play.
The sound I used in this clip is exactly the same than some VH clips I put in this site and here it seems a very different thing than VH sound.

Hope you like it

Very well done. I have been studying the works of Bratta as well. Almost every song on pride and big game is a smorgasboard of unique rhythm playing and solo techniques. I never really realized how much was going on until I started diving into it. Awesome stuff.

Nice playing. This thread made me curious to see what Vito Bratta's up to these days. According to Wikipedia (which is never wrong  ), he apparently quit the "biz" in 1994 and moved back in and has been living with his parents. That's too bad because I dug that first White Lion record and thought he was a monster player.

Sounds nice man! My band used to cover that back in the 80's. That solo was one of the few that if you miss a note, you fall flat on your face. Talk about pressure. The only other solo which freaked me out like that was the solo from Burning Heart by Vandenburg. Miss a note live, you are up the proverbial creek.

Okay, I'm late to the party... but very nice job! Nice touch on the "tap harmonics" too.

I'm old enough to remember Vito's playing and also spent a lot of time learning and even tabbing out his solo's. His rhythm playing was good too, with a VH style of variety rather than the typical "power chords only" typical at the time. (BTW, I'm one of those guys who appreciates Eddie's rhythm playing much more than his leads.)

Vito had a great sense of melody and mixed it well with some of the flashy, technical playing that was coming out at that time. Unfortunately, playing in context with the band and the underlying chord structure is something a LOT of players just don't get.

Anyway, nice job man!

I just read the wikipedia page on Vito. Regardless of its accuracy, it's sad that so little was said about him. I mean look at all the attention paid to much lesser "musicians". Such is the biz I guess.

You did great!

I learned that when it was a hit. I have to say it is the "hardest solo in the world". At the time, I got a lot of "love" for learning it. And, it helped me to score a couple of offers from local bands that were gigging that kind of material.....back in the glory days....

Anyway, nice to hear people still learning that stuff.

Same here. I learned it by ear, there was no tab available at that time, and scored a few real good gigs after people heard us play it. The 80's were real fun due to the excesses of the time. Everything was big except for the mini skirts :D

Thank you so much for appreciating, guys !

It was so much time since I played this kind of stuff.
I just saw a YouTube clip about him and particulary this tune and this fantastic solo and decided to get again this piece.
Vito is SO AMAZING melodic and articulated guitarist and it's a shame he doesn't play anymore and I'm so glad here's many people that remembers about him.
