I thought some of you might be interested in this video clip I just uploaded:

Please excuse the flubbed notes, rushed tempos and stiff note-by-note playing. It's my first video demo. Recorded during a heatwave inside a barn with nice acoustics, but it was scorching hot in there! Crude recording done with a Fostex AR4i(?) interface for iPhone.

Gear used:
2002 R8 Les Paul Historic Makeover with Throbak SLE01+ pickups, Curt Mangan pure nickel 10-38 strings
Marshall 1986/50W Plexi Bass clone (all NOS parts, ****** transformers, Mullard xf2 EL34s, old stock pres)
1970 Marshall model 1982A 4x12 with 2 x Cerwin Vega ER123 and 2 x Celestion G12H 55Hz (T1281).

Amp settings: Presence 5, bass 2, mids 10, treble 7, volume one 10, volume two 0. Bleeding off a little treble by daisy chaining to another amp which was not used.

I'm very lucky to have a lot of fine gear by now. Hope to put up some more videos where I try to nail a particular sound.
I want to try this sort of setup but mixing the Cerwin Vegas with T1511 Celestions instead. Since Duane had some cabs with a "Bass" corner logo it's very likely that the Celestions he used were actually T1511s and not T1281s. Since they are lower sensitivity than T1281s you would probably hear even more of the CVs, which have a very characteristic sound with tons of overtones, but perhaps a touch blaring on their own.
