It is the profile of the front lip of the cab that abuts the front control panel

Plexis have flat lip and metal panels have rounded front lip (to match the outside radius).

Nothing to do with the bottom being flat

Neikeel Im confused. Do you mean the bottom (feet side) of headshell has no roundover on the lip? Im looking on amparchives.com and cant see any difference.

Yes that is right

The bottom edge (where the feet are) is rounded but the upper part of that lip that abuts the plexi panel is flat.

There are some other shots here:

The red one does not have the flat bottom. Looking from the inside, see the ridge on the front?
If you had the same look for the black one, there would be no ridge.

Thanks guys I finally understand most of it

Is the round bottom still 5/8 birch ply like the other 3 sides or did they just glue a 1/8" or 1/4" strip on the front and give it a roundover? The edges have a 1'' roundover and wonder what the radius is for the round lip is? top and bottom.

It is an extra piece with the same radius just glued face to face.
