'79 Superlead Horror

Post by gldtp99 » Sun May 18, 2014 5:30 am

A guy brought me his modded '79 Superlead a little while back and wanted it fixed ----- I opened it up while he was in my shop and he wanted to know if I could see the problem----- pics:

I ended up gutting and rebuilding his amp with new almost everything: PT, OT, Turret Board, Tube FX Loop, etc.

Here's a quick vid of the finished amp with my mods (as requested by the owner)---- the player in the vid is a local Grindcore player who was hanging around my shop that night:

Here are more pics that show the amp---- the last four pics are the "Before" condition with the butchered orig Marshall PCB:

I don't seem to be able to post pics/vids directly to the forum----- but the links should be good.

The owner came over and tested the amp out the other night and was smiling, shaking my hand/clicking knuckles after trying out the amp--- it was just what he wanted.
He's bringing me an early 80's JCM 800 2203 for service/mods soon------ this one is supposed to be in better shape than the '79 Superlead.................................gldtp99

The owner also bought this Laney AOR 50 that I gutted and rebuilt with a turret board several yrs ago----- this amp was a test bed for several different modded Marshall type circuits------ this vid is how it sounds now:

Sounds beefy !
Always happy to hear & see an oldie up & running and the horror turns to happy. :)
If he likes his '79 now, he's gonna love his 80's JCM 800 2203....Nice work on that laney too, BTW.

Metroamp phpBB accepts images that are 722 pixels wide. So, resize if you would like to display your photo's as it must meet this criteria. If I know I will be posting I just use Microsoft's Paint and edit to resize in Pixels before uploading to an imaging host.
