Excellent sample, and the greenbacks sounds spot on to the original recording! I agree with you, I think the greenbacks sound correct. I don't think it's hard to imagine that Slash probably used greenbacks on AFD, just by the reality of him using them on UYI with #34. Guns were still green in studio back during these times, so when UYI session came up, you can be sure that Slash wanted to have the same kind of success he finally found in the AFD sessions after struggling to get his sound right. As such, he probably used a greenback cab with UYI because that's what worked for him with AFD. Even when he first tried out #34, he probably tried it out with the same cab he used on AFD just to see how this 'new' amp would compare in getting a similar sound. Also, we really don't see Slash changing much in the studio until the VR days. Sure, he probably experimented a little bit in the Snakepit sessions for the various tracks, but his main sound didn't change a whole lot. Apart from different guitars, most changes we hear are probably due to the recording process, and possibly using some V30's on various tracks to mix up up the sound to keep it interesting.dukeamps wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 1:22 pmSame clip but with Greenbacks

Really, your sample here says it all, in how spot on it sounds to the original track mixed in with it. Your other samples sound excellent, very desirable, and very close, but the greenbacks sound spot on. Great job with the playing too, which always helps it blend in better!

Also modern Greenbacks don't sound the same as the old ones from the 70s, the new ones are too fizzy sounding.
Anyways I was working on my 2 stage + cf AFD mod here is a clip of Scom.
