Re: 74 Super lead guts
If u can see it. It has a weird array of components. Three 2n2s instead of one. The tropical fish .68 It looked pristine under the board. I couldn't tell the 2 extra 2n2s where not factory. Nor could my tech. Had to change the 100 ks. Since that photo it's been correctly converted to el 34s. I will have to say that it is a damn beast of an amp. I play a 70 lp bb. W ttops and my settings are plugged into high input chan 1 no jump bass2 treb10 mid6-7 pres4-7 and its thick as all get out. I've read the 2n2s should cut bass frequencies. But it sounds like a superlead should to me. Negitive feedback 100 k off 4k tap. Good grind but it cleans up well to. Great w a strat. I tried it on the 8 ohm and preferred the 4. U guys see anything that I'm missing in there?

Re: 74 Super lead guts
The setup I'm running is a basketweave top w original pre Rola g12ms bottom cab is a early 80s g12 65 cab. Maybe that's why it's such a deep beast? But I've heard a lot of people comment as to how trebly these amps are w the 5k bright cap and all the circuit changes. This set up seems to maybe balance that out a little. I really love it. I guess u can tell

Re: 74 Super lead guts
Your picture shows fine.
Some obvious changed parts, but nothing too extreme. The '74s tend to be aggressive, maybe the most of any Superlead. Due in part to the negative feedback, or relative lack of.

Re: 74 Super lead guts
Thanks goerge. It is a beast. Are u talking about the 2n2s and plate resistors? What all do u see other than that and tube sockets that's replaced?

Re: 74 Super lead guts
I also have changed all output tube sockets. Three were different type.

Re: 74 Super lead guts
My guess starting from the .68uf which may be original??
The 2 100k metal oxide plate resistors for V1
The carbon comp 100k on V2
The carbon comp 100k plate resistor for the cathode follower
The 2 1m resistors for the phase inverter grids V3
That big green 82k plate resistor for the phase inverter V3
The bias splitter resistors don't look correct if I'm seeing the color correctly, org org yel...330k?
The rest of the 1/2 carbon comp resistors may be suspect except for the one's in the bias section that would have been put in when the amp came to the USA and was converted to 6550 tubes. Usually the rest of those are all Pihers.
Beats me about the 1w voltage droppers but I suppose they could be original.
All of those carbon comps is strange and maybe they just ran out of Pihers that day.

Re: 74 Super lead guts
I have pictures of 2 other amps from that time with the same resistor layout all the way the green one the real small 1ms all the carbon comps All of em. . Except for the metal oxide 100ks I changed those. Plus one of the amps i have pictured has the tropical fish as that first .68. That's why I'm puzzled. I have had several old marshall from around this era and know what the boards look like underneath. This one was slick. Except the bias resistor. Which had been re connected.

Re: 74 Super lead guts
It has a 100k carbon comp over v2 socket I know is original. And one of the same type as the 1ms and the small resistor in the bias section on the .68 on the presence pot that I know is original. Red dye not messed with. Same type as the green 82k I think?? Maybe
