So, what's it sound like when a V1 tube goes bad? Since this whole US Govt shutdown, I've had lots of time to fiddle with my amp and play it fully dimed in attenuated.
So this morning, I turned things on, and started playing but the tone was very thin and bright no low end at all. I have been trying different tubes. I put a different one in and seems to be better.
So, the question is, what might cause a thin, no low end tone? A bad tube?
Anything else?

Could be a weak tube.Or one with a weak triode.Try a couple other tubes and then the "thin" on if thats the only thin sounding one, there ya go.
Also theres the effect of after blasting your ears for 2hrs the tube that sounded great last night is a POS the next day, done that befor. Not that thats nessasarily your case.

Re: Bad V1 tube?
thanks, I swapped some different tubes around and things seem to be back to "normal" may have been the tube or my ears failing. LOL
